Rural Movement Organization (RMO) firmly believe that Agriculture is a subsistence-based economy with 80 of population depending. RMO found that supporting this huge vulnerable portion of Afghan communities is more necessity, thus RMO was established with a very strong Agriculture section which leads by national experts.

Agriculture in Afghanistan continues to be a subsistence-based economy with 80 percent of families depending primarily on agriculture and animal husbandry for their livelihood. Despite a huge potential, the sector has been neglected over many years of conflict and destruction. Lack of skills, knowledge and availability of poor agriculture inputs have been degraded negatively effecting agriculture and animal husbandry, increasing vulnerability among huge portion of Afghan population. Rural population is often gripped with extreme difficulties in accessing resources and producing sufficient food to feed the families, therefore, causing widespread malnutrition. This problem is compounded by a general lack of knowledge among farmers regarding management of their resources. We support rural communities improve their rural livelihoods by increasing agriculture productivity and production through involving and building their capacity for more efficient and sustainable farming methods and practices, effective management of land, improvement of irrigation skills, and animal husbandry. Over the past year, we have been increasingly supporting farmers in rehabilitating and establishing fruit orchards, vegetables production and fruit and vegetable post-harvest handling. Additionally, agriculture department established fruit and non-fruit nursery through establishing Nursery Grower Associations (NGA) for production of certified saplings.

Furthermore, we have been supporting livestock owners for more efficient and sustainable domestic animal tending methods, effective management of stables, improvement of fodder, increase animal production and its processing.
