Backyard Poultry Project – Bamyan center

Marya is from centre of Bamyan province. Currently she is living in about (3 Km) away from the centre, she is busy of house work. but recently she joined poultry training program of RMO, and she explained this changes as follow:

“I was busy only for house work, I was not able to support my family with any cash income, the income my husband receives was not sufficient for our family expenditures and there was no other sources of additional income, therefore; the situation left myself and my children in a very bad condition.

In order to purchase some small items and or sometime go to health centre I asked my husband for providing money, due to his limited income and family high expenses he was not able to provide me with cash, which   always made  me very sad”

I was informed by my husband, that a poultry project is going to start in the village we contacted village CDC leader, I requested to be as beneficiary of poultry project, eventually RMO technical staff interviewed me and accepted my request.

She said “I received training  about backyard poultry which could help to perform and arrange activity by myself, additionally, it help me to have daily income (30 Afs). This helps me to continue my life better and now I can support my family for purchasing some consumable items. Furthermore, I can easily access to clinic and other facilities. I was introduced to different beneficiaries inside village, which supports me in making further relationship with other community women”.

I will continue for this business in the future, no matter the external support exists or not. She added “now I am a skilled woman in pultry, I have got training and know what need for”.

In her last speech she added “I am very happy to participate in this program and will encourage my other relatives and neighborhood to do so. I am very thankful from the sponsor of this program as well as the implementer. I suggest continuing such a program in the future for further empowerment of women in the area”.
