Proejct Name: Connecting Energy Savings Solutions in housing for better Natural Resources Management and job creation

“Connecting Energy Savings Solutions in housing for better Natural Resources Management and job creation “project under FLR program of GIZ was 26 months project implemneted by Geres and RMO (Nov 2020 to Dec 2022).

The project implementation period was marked by the take-over of the government by the Taliban in July 2021 in Badakhshan and in August in Kabul. The implementation of activities was first upheld for security reasons then suspended upon GIZ request from 15 Aug 2021 till 31 December. Upon the announcement of a possible resumption, GIZ and Geres agreed to resume work based on a new set of activities, better adapted to the socio-economic crisis hitting the Afghan population in the target areas.

Since the project is implemented in two phases, below are a brief achevments of indicators at both implementation phahses:

The activities covered at Initial phase (Nov 2020 to Dec 2021)

  • 25 houses equipped with Energy Saving Solutions (ESS) through demonstration policy (25 families directly benefited)
  • 209 houses equipped with ESS through dissemination policy, 1734 people benefited 882 men and 852 women
  • 75 artisans received full training; 38 families directly benefited from project (75 families directly benefited)
  • 4298 people (1546 male and 2752 female.
  • 90,000 people received indirect awareness.

The activities covered at Revised phase (May 2022 to Dec 2022)

  • 45 houses equipped with ESS through demonstration policy, 45 families directly benefited.
  • 730 houses equipped with ESS through dissemination policy, 6171 people benefited 2920 men and 3251 women
  • 96 artisans received full training; 96 families directly benefited
  • 12484 people deceived direct awareness 3193 men and 9291 women
  • 360,000 people received indirect awareness

Over all 21.852 people (7891 men and 13961 women) directly benefited from ESS, trainings and direct awareness sessions and 560,000 people indirectly benefited through direct and indirect awareness sessions.
