
Project Name: Connecting Energy Savings Solutions in Housing for Improved livelihoods and enhanced Job opportunity
The project ” Connecting Energy Savings Solutions in Housing for Improved livelihoods and enhanced Job opportunity” under TDA program of GIZ has been designed to contribute to ensure heating and cooking means, reducing costs thereof and improve living conditions of the targeted populations of urban Kabul (indirectly benefiting from improved food security as well) and to provide job opportunities to craftsmen and artisan by offering Energy Efficient Solutions (EES) set-up services. The project target 375 most vulnerable households of targeted districts to be equipped with ESS via at least 30 trained artisans and the support of community representatives. The project also supports large awareness campaign to inform at least 5500 through direct awareness campaign and 120,000 people indirectly about ESS and project activities.
By end of June 2022, 418 houses are equipped with ESS of which 71 of them are women headed households. A baseline and end use assessment are performed for 171 houses out of 418 equipped with ESS who report more comfort and over 50% heating and cooking fuel savings. 33 artisans are trained and supported by job opportunity, with 28 of them reported increase of income and better job opportunity.
In addition, by the end of the project, around 6.066 people out of which 3.776 of them are women, received direct awareness and at least 400,000 people are indirectly informed of ESS and the project. The project is implemented by Geres and RMO in coordination with Kabul Municipality.
